Today’s guest was Sean Hawkins, Chief Advancement Officer of the Charleston Animal Society.  Sean began his career in animal welfare as a thirteen-year-old young man when he began volunteering at an animal shelter in the Bahamas.  From there he went on to Houston where he was instrumental in creating the first free spay neuter program for qualified income families.  Little did he know these efforts would result in a career path that has now spanned more than 25 years.   

Sean has served animals at some of the most prestigious animal welfare organizations in the United States.  He has worked with Cleveland Amory at The Fund for Animals, the American Humane AssociationPet Alliance of Greater Orlando, Second Chance Center for Animals, the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society and now at Charleston Animal Society.    Read more

Today’s guest was Lori Basher, President and Co-Founder of Canine Addison’s Resources & Education (CARE), a 501c3 not for profit organization whose mission is to provide resources and education to improve the lives of dogs with Addison’s disease and empower owners to advocate on their behalf.  Lori became acquainted with Canine Addison’s Disease when her beloved dog, Mack was diagnosed at age two.  Since then, she has dedicated her time and energy to educating others about the disease, its treatment and celebrating the lives of dogs with Addison’s Disease.    Read more

Today’s guest was Stephanie Perkins, a Director at Tallahassee Memorial Heathcare (TMH).  Stephanie directs the Animal Therapy program for TMH.  They currently have more than 200 volunteer teams that include dogs, cats, bunnies, parrots and horses along with their human handlers.  They also had an Alpaca in their program.    Read more
